Chief Executive Resignation

In September Debbie Cameron made the decision to step down from the role of Chief Executive of the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand (the RAS), with effect from 30 November 2021.

Debbie made a significant contribution to the RAS, as well as the regional A&P network over the last 15 years.

One thing Debbie always did was go above and beyond, assisting the Society across all its functions. Her efforts have not always been fully visible to the membership, but Debbie has been committed to advancing and supporting our organisation and did so in many ways.

During Debbie’s time as our CEO much has changed in the RAS. Debbie had a pivotal leadership role in initiatives such as:

  • Developing the function of Districts with a focus on building the role and involvement of the District Manager.
  • Revising and modernising the Constitution, the Equestrian Judges manual and Tutor Judges manual plus the developing tools to assist Tutor judges in Judges assessments.
  • Developing competitor forums.
  • Facilitated NZ’s participation in the Australasian Young Judges & Handlers plus Rural Ambassador competition finals, including bringing the Australasian Finals to NZ.
  • A new comprehensive consultation process plus a robust Resolution process.
  • The first Strategic Plan driven by stakeholders and not solely by the Executive.
  • The current Strategic Business Review for the Society which is currently being undertaken at the present time, therefore ensuring a large step forward in our long term future.

The Executive take this opportunity on behalf of you all, to thank Debbie for her dedication, commitment, enthusiasm and drive during the last 15 years and wish her all the very best for the future.
