Showcase: Otago-Taieri A&P Society – 21-23 January 2022
Our Annual A&P Show was a rather different event this year. Our committee decided to hold 3 sections and close the show to public or spectators due to the current COVID risk.
The Paddock to Plate section convened by BJ Thomson was easily transferred off site and went ahead brilliantly, hosted by the West Otago Rugby Club in Outram, this years entries were the strongest yet with 41 lambs judged on the hoof, at the processing plant, including x rays and grading scores, with the final part of the competition, being the plate -.the over all winner was Bill and Fiona Smeaton of Mosgiel.
Our Wool section convened by TM Nichol was judged on Friday 21st with some excellent entries and the Supreme Fleece belonged to Kat and Gary Nichol of Outram.
Equestrian showing section convened by Rachel Walker and Hunter section convened by Kat Nichol went ahead in two separate groups, Ponies were judged Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, then Hacks were judged Saturday afternoon, including Hunter Jumping. And the led/breed competition was on Sunday. The entries in the equestrian were disappointingly low, but those that did compete had a wonderful time.
